Fight Cuts to Public Schools Take Action

Quality public education is essential to the long term health of our economy.   Especially now when the state needs to be employing all efforts to help turn our economy around, we can't afford to cut funding to some of our most innovative and academically promising public schools. But that's exactly what proposed cuts to the Charter Facility Grant Program would do. Public schools across California count on these lease grants to literally pay the bills to keep their doors open. Without it, vital resources that pay for teachers and books would have to be diverted to pay rent. And even that might not be enough.

Worse still, the public schools that would be hurt serve some of our lowest-income communities. Kids in these neighborhoods need opportunity, not more obstacles. Urge your Assemblymember to fight the cuts - public school leaders need to be able to focus on helping kids, not paying the rent.
